Bonnie Sarton Mierau

Bonnie Sarton Mierau, MSW, LIMHP is an independent contractor at The Attachment and Trauma Center of Nebraska in Omaha. Bonnie began her career in adoption and continues to believe that stable, permanent connections are paramount for all people: children, teens, and adults.
Bonnie views therapy as an opportunity to help clients move toward the life they want, allowing them to interact more successfully with their families, partners, friends, and the broader community. This is accomplished by helping them understand and heal their past, create deep and meaningful connections, improve their current coping skills to better manage stress, and overcome behaviors that are holding them back.
Bonnie believes that connections heal. Trauma disrupts our ability to create healthy connections to ourselves and to those around us. Trauma can leave us with loneliness, confusion, and pain. It is her greatest honor to facilitate as her clients develop and use new insights, skills, and therapeutic intervention to heal their traumas. This healing allows clients to find meaning, connection, and hope.
Bonnie earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Northern Colorado in 1995 and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1999. She has completed Level 2 Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) training, Comprehensive Resource Method (CRM) training as well as earned a designation as a Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Educator. She has received post graduate training in attachment, adoption, and play therapy. She is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner, a Certified Master Social Worker.
