Theresa O’Halloran

Theresa O’Halloran, Ed.D., LIMHP, MAC is a member of the treatment team at the Attachment and Trauma Center of Nebraska in Omaha. Theresa has been a mental health counselor for more than 22 years and a Counselor Educator since 1997, training and supervising new counselors. She specializes in assisting adults and teens with issues of addiction, trauma, anxiety, and depression.

Theresa utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), clinical hypnosis and meditation training in assisting clients to resolve concerns and live more freely and fully. She is a Level II EMDR Practitioner and uses EMDR to assist people with trauma, core belief issues, and addictive behaviors. Additionally, Theresa teaches clients mindfulness meditation practices to reduce binge eating or other addictive behaviors, manage stress, and self-soothe.

Dr. O’Halloran runs two groups at ATCN:

Journeys in Mindful Eating Group which helps members learn skills to heal their relationship with food.

DBT for Teens Group which helps teen learn mindfulness and other coping and relationship skills.

Dr. O’Halloran writes blog, Journeys in Mindful Eating which can be found at mindfuleatingblog.blogspot.com. Journeys in Mindful Eating Blog is designed to help us move from mindless, compulsive eating to more centered, mindful and healthy eating for our health and longevity.

Theresa is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) in Nebraska and a nationally certified Master Addiction Counselor (MAC), as well as a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in Colorado. She earned her Master’s degree from Arizona State University in Counseling and her doctorate in Counselor Education from University of Northern Colorado.
