Ann E. Potter
Ann E. Potter, Ph.D., has worked for over 35 years in the mental health field as a psychiatric nurse, educator, therapist, psychologist, speaker, and consultant. Her bachelor’s degree is in Nursing from Creighton University, master’s degree in Counseling from UNOmaha, and doctorate in Counseling Psychology from UNLincoln. She has been in private practice since 1989 and co-owned Therapy Resource Associates, a private practice in Omaha, Nebraska, from 1994-2008. She has published articles on the roles adults played as children in alcoholic families and books on trauma treatment. She conducts individual, group, couples’ and family therapy related to a wide range of issues. Her areas of expertise include trauma, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, grief and has specialized training in Dialectical-Behavior Therapy (DBT), Systematic Training in Affect and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She is a certified therapist and approved consultant in EMDR. She has piloted outcome research related to phase-based trauma treatment (DBT/EMDR) for adults. In addition to having a private practice at the Attachment and Trauma Center of Nebraska, she has worked in the domestic violence and sexual assault programs at WCA Omaha (formerly YWCA) since 2001.
