How We Can Help

Every situation is unique, which is why we want to help you understand the problem before you ever pick up the phone and call us. We’ve designed this site to give you a sense for what the problem may be and how we might approach resolving it.

Attachment Problems

What you may be feeling

  • Clingy and demanding or distant in relationships
  • Intense emotions/anger/fear or apparent lack of emotions

PTSD/Effects of Trauma

What you may be feeling

  • Nightmares or intrusive thoughts/re-experiencing of the event
  • Avoidance of any reminders of the event, including people, places, smells, sounds, and emotions associated with the event
  • Hypervigilance and heightened startle response
  • Need to feel in control
  • Ineffective coping methods such as use of drugs and alcohol
  • Sleep problems
  • Intense reactions
  • Dissociation

Anxiety Problems

  • In children, anxiety may look like inattention and concentration problems, hyperactivity, and rages

Addictive Behaviors

What you may be feeling

  • A lack of control over your behavior
  • Continuation of the behavior despite consequences
  • Unsuccessful attempts to change
  • Hopelessness

Our approach

  • A holistic approach addressing an individual's cognitive, behavioral and relational needs using EMDR, DBT, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness training, clinical hypnosis, and supportive therapy. We offer specialized treatment for substance abuse and problem gambling.

Depression

What you may be feeling

  • Periods of sadness lasting over two weeks
  • Lack of interest in things
  • Lack of energy
  • Sleep disruption
  • Changes in appetite
  • Some people experience physical symptoms such as headaches or stomach problems
  • Feelings of hopelessness
  • Impaired concentration and/or memory
  • Social withdrawal
  • In children, depression can look like intense anger, irritability, oppositional behaviors, concentration and attention problems, and fatigue

Adjustment Disorders
